PRIX ALRDH

The “PRIX ALRDH”, financially endowed by the Association for the Fight for the Respect of Human Rights in short ALRDH, was created in 2021 and is awarded by a jury.  This prize is intended to reward actions on the ground and projects initiated by natural or legal persons to defend and effectively promote Human Rights. The prize is awarded each year on December, 10 in Geneva, Switzerland or whenever necessary in the winner’s country of residence. December, 10 being proclaimed by the United Nations as the Human Rights Day. This award aims to recognize the fundamental role of civil society in the promotion and defense of Human Rights around the world.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

From 2021 onwards, ALRDH launches a call for applications each year, specifying the deadline for submission.
For the year 2023 the deadline is October 10, 2023 at 08:00:00 AM CET. The call for applications is available on ALRDH’s website as well as on the association’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Natural or legal persons, regardless of nationality, must submit their application file presenting actions carried out on the ground to promote or defend Human Rights. The file must also include a presentation of the project they have implemented or wish to implement. 

JURY

The “PRIX ALRDH” is awarded by a jury formed each year by the ALRDH and made up of five members with voting rights. The jury is chaired by a member of ALRDH and proceeds by delegation from ALRDH’s general assembly. The Jury’s decisions are taken by majority vote of its members. Its secretariat is provided by a member of ALRDH.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

The winner is selected based on the actions  he has carried out on the ground  and the projects he intends to develop.
With regard to actions, applicants will have to:

  • apply by submitting their application on the ALRDH website and within the allotted time.

  • publicly defending a victim of human rights violation.

  • have carried out acts of sensitization of the population on the subject of respect for human rights.

  • attend or send a representative to the award ceremony.

As for the projects, they must aims to pursue an effective defense and promotion of Human Rights, as well as to carry the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the World Conference on Human Rights. 

After a careful and rigorous examination, the jury appoints a winner who receives a sum of CHF 1,000 and a diploma.

AWARD CEREMONY

The Prize is officially presented to the winner by a member of the jury or the association, at a ceremony in Geneva on December 10, on the occasion of the Human Rights Day proclaimed by the United Nations. Where appropriate, the prize may be awarded by a representative of ALRDH in the winner’s country of residence. During the ceremony, the winner receives an envelope with an amount in local currency corresponding to CHF 1,000 and a diploma.
